What is Level baggage allowance (hand and checked)

LEVEL is a low-cost airline launched in 2017, with hubs in Barcelona and Paris Orly, but before flying with Level Airline, staying up to date with their baggage policy is important to avoid unexpected fees or delays at the airport.

So whether you’re heading on a long-haul adventure or flying within Europe, knowing your baggage limits will help ensure a smoother journey.

Let’s dive right in.

Level baggage allowance

How strict are Level Airline with hand luggage?

Just like other low cost airlines, that make money on charging for baggage, Level are pretty strict with their carry-on baggage.

So your carry-on baggage must fall within this allowance.

Long-Haul Flights:

You can have one cabin bag with the following dimensions:

  • 56 cm (height) x 45 cm (width) x 25 cm (depth)
  • Maximum weight: 10 kg

In addition to the above allowance, you can also have one personal item ( like a laptop bag, a handbag, briefcase, camera bag, or changing bag with baby essentials) that must fit under the seat in front of you.

Flights Within Europe:

On European flights, you can have one cabin bag with the following size:

  • 55cm (height) x 40cm (width) x 20cm (depth)
  • Maximum weight: 10kg

You can also bring a personal item that fits under the seat in front of you.

Level Airlines Liquids Policy

LEVEL is strict with its liquids policy, which aligns with common international travel regulations.

Liquids, aerosols, gels, and creams in your carry-on must be in containers of no more than 100ml/ 3.4 ounces each.

All liquid items must be placed in a transparent, quart sized bag, which should not exceed 1 liter in total volume.

You will need to take this bag out of your carry-on bag during security checks for separate inspection.

Level airlines checked baggage weight and size

What is the checked baggage allowance?

Long haul Flights:

  • Standard Class: 23kg per bag
  • Premium Class: Two bags with a total weight of 46kg (2 x 23kg) After 23kg, you’ll be charged for excess baggage, which costs €11 per extra kg (around $13 USD or $19 CAD).

The total weight of any checked bag cannot exceed 32kg.

European Flights:

  • Optima Fare: A single checked bag with a maximum weight of 25kg
  • Basic Fare: No checked baggage included, but you can add it for an additional fee. You’ll need to purchase this online for a cheaper rate than at the airport.

Level Airline Excess Baggage Fees

If you need more baggage, LEVEL allows you to purchase additional bags either when purchasing your flight or through the My Bookings section of their website.

Below are the fees for excess baggage:

Long haul Flights:

  • First checked bag (23kg): From €39 ($44 USD, $59 CAD)
  • Second/third checked bag (23kg): From €70 ($90 USD, $110 CAD)
  • Extra kilos (per kg): €11 ($13 USD, $19 CAD)

European Flights:

  • First checked bag (25kg): €10-32 ($12-38 USD)
  • Second / third checked bag (25kg): €25-90 ($29-110 USD)
  • Extra kilos (per kg): €12 ($15 USD)

Remember, it’s always more affordable to purchase extra baggage online when check in than at the airport.

Be Aware of These Restricted Items

For safety reasons, there are some items that are prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage.

  • Explosives and hazardous materials such as fireworks, munitions, and flares.
  • Liquefied gases (e.g., oxygen tanks, aerosol cans).
  • Sharp objects, including knives, scissors, and ski poles.
  • Weapons, including firearms, paintball guns, and crossbows.

Please check this post for a complete list on what items are not allowed in checked luggage.

Final Thoughts

Level Airlines baggage policy is straightforward, but it’s important to ensure your bags stay within the required size and weight limits to avoid any extra charges.

Always check your baggage allowance and consider paying for additional baggage before going to the airport for a smoother experience.

To avoid any surprises, be mindful of the carry-on and checked baggage guidelines, and remember to pack your liquids in compliance with airport security rules, It’s also a good idea to check what other passengers have said about Level on TripAdvisor.

If you need more room, it’s always cheaper to purchase baggage online than the airport.

I hope this helps

Happy travels

  1. I mistakenly added bags to Level that I don’t need. Can I get a refund or exchange it for other services, for example?

  2. Hi, I would recommend you contact Level Airlines, but it is a smart idea to ask if you get you a refund
