How Strict Is Condor With Carry-on?

So how strict are Condor Airlines when it comes to carry-on ( hand luggage) size and weight?

As travel specialists, it’s a question we hear often and if you’re flying Condor soon, it’s worth knowing what to expect to avoid last minute charges or boarding delays.

The short answer: Condor is slightly strict, especially about size.

They also weigh bags more often than some low-cost airlines, so it’s worth sticking close to their official limits if you want a smooth experience.

In this guide, I will walk you through everything you need to know plus some tips if you’re thinking of pushing your luck a little.

Let’s dive right in.

How Strict Is Condor With Carry-on

Tip: Check out this Travelpro Platinum Elite 21” Carry-On Spinner, a sleek and versatile carry-on that is designed to fit within the limits of most airlines, to save you from the hassle of the airports and the pesky airline fees.

Condor Airlines Main Hand Luggage Policy

The amount of carry-on baggage you are allowed to bring into the cabin on your Condor flight depends on your booking ticket, destination, and flight zone.

If your carry-on baggage exceeds the Condor weight and sizes allowance, your luggage will be subject to additional excess baggage fees. Passengers traveling on all fares may bring a small bag to stow under the seat in front of them free of charge.

Economy Class:

  • 1 cabin bag + 1 personal item
  • Maximum size: 55 x 40 x 20 cm (21.6 x 15.7 x 7.8 inches)
  • Maximum weight: 6 kg (13 lb)

Premium Economy Class:

  • Same size, but a slightly higher weight limit: 8 kg (18 lb)

Business Class:

  • 2 cabin bags allowed
  • Combined maximum weight: 12 kg (26 lb)

Your main bag must fit easily into the overhead compartment, and your personal item (think handbag, laptop bag, etc.) needs to fit under the seat in front of you.

And if you’re looking for a fully compliant cabin bag for Condor flights, I recommend something lightweight between 2 kg and 2.5 kg empty, so you stay well within the weight limits once packed.

Condor Personal Item Policy

Along with your main cabin bag, you’re allowed to have a small personal item.

Condor doesn’t give exact dimensions for this, but think small handbag, laptop bag, or slim backpack.

As long as it easily fits under the seat and doesn’t look bulky, you’ll be fine.

No official weight limit here, but it still needs to be easily carried, if it looks heavy you could attract extra attention at the gate.

What About Liquids in Hand Luggage?

Just like all European airlines, Condor follows the standard liquid restrictions:

You’ll need to present it separately at security no exceptions.

You will be required to remove your liquids from your carry-on and place it in a separate bin along with any electronics larger than a cell phone when going through the security checkpoint.

How Strict Are Condor Airlines With Hand Luggage Size?

It is the luggage size where Condor and most airlines tends to be stricter.

If your main bag looks oversized, you might be asked to place it in the metal cage ( luggage sizer) before boarding.

And if it doesn’t fit easily, you’ll probably be asked to check it into the hold, and you’ll be charged a fee.

So if your bag is even slightly too big (especially hard-shell suitcases), we wouldn’t recommend risking it.

Soft-sided bags like backpacks might squeeze in but it’s still a gamble.

Always check if your bag fits including wheels and handles, as these count towards the size limits.

How Strict Are Condor Airlines With Hand Luggage Weight?

When it comes to weight, Condor can be fairly strict especially if you’re traveling on busy flights or haven’t checked in online.

If your bag looks heavy, you could be asked to weigh it either at check-in or at the gate. If it’s overweight, it will have to be checked into the hold for an extra fee.

From experience, if you’re a little bit over (say 0.5 kg), you might be okay.

But if you’re carrying heavy tech (laptop, camera, chargers), we’d recommend moving some into your personal item or wearing heavier clothes if you’re concerned.

Condor Airlines Checked Baggage Allowance

If you’ve booked a fare that includes checked baggage, here’s what you get:

  • Economy Class: 1 bag up to 20 kg (44 lb)
  • Premium Economy: 1 bag up to 25 kg (55 lb)

  • Economy Class: 1 bag up to 23 kg (50 lb)
  • Premium Economy: 1 bag up to 25 kg (55 lb)

Should I Risk It If My Bag is Slightly Oversized or Overweight?

Size

Even though I saw some passengers get away with it, I wouldn’t risk it, especially with a hard sided suitcase.

If it’s a soft bag or a duffle bag and just a little oversized, you might get lucky, but there’s still a decent chance you’ll have to pay.

Weight

This is a little more flexible.

If you’re just half a kilo over, chances are you’ll get away with it especially if you’ve checked in online and move through security without drawing attention.

However, don’t rely on this if you have a visibly heavy bag.

Wear your heaviest shoes and jackets if needed.

Final Thoughts

Condor is relatively strict compared to some other airlines, especially when it comes to the size of your cabin baggage.

Weight is checked occasionally but not always so a slight excess might slide.
Size, however, is a lot harder to negotiate if they ask you to use the sizer.

Our advice? Invest in a properly sized bag if you travel frequently it’ll save you stress (and money) at the airport.

I hope this helps

Happy travels
