Does Eurowings charge for carry on?

Eurowings allowed its Guests the following carry on baggage allowance free of charge:

  • Basic:one item of hand luggage free of charge (note: the item not guaranteed in the cabin)
  • Smart:one item of hand luggage free of charge( in the cabin)
  • BEST:two items of hand luggage free of charge(in the cabin)
  • BIZclass: two items of hand luggage  free of charge(in the cabin)

In addition to your cabin bag ,Eurowings allows  each Guests to carry on board a further small item of hand luggage, not exceeding 40 x 30 x 10 cm (e.g. laptop bag, handbag, briefcase, folder satchel, etc.).

Does backpack count as a carry on on Eurowings?

If your backpack is small enough (like a  folder satchel, a laptop bag, a handbag, briefcase, etc.) that doesn’t exceed Eurowings carry on size policy (40 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm) it can be counted as carry on.

However Many airlines don’t publish rules for personal items. The airlines that do have rules don’t agree on the size of personal items that they allow.

Does Eurowings weigh carry on?

Yes, your carry on baggage must not apply with Eurowings carry on policy ,any Larger or heavier items of luggage that do not comply with the above requirements must be checked in at the check-in counter. 

Hand luggage that is too large or too heavy will be collected at the gate and transported in the hold as check-in luggage, for which a fee is payable.

If you want to add more luggage up to 5 pieces YOU can do it upon payment of the following fees:

  • 2nd piece (when not included): 90€/162 USD (23 kg piece), 190€/205 USD (32 kg piece)
  • From 3rd to 5th piece: 150€ /162 USD(23 kg piece), 250€/ 270 USD (32 kg piece)

Short haul flights:

  • 1st piece (when not included): From 15€/16 USD (23 kg piece), 75€/ 81 USD (32 kg piece)

Can I check in at the airport with Eurowings?

Yes, you can check in your flights at the airport with Eurowings However it is always cheaper to check in online rather than the airport. Generally, for short-haul flights, the starting time is 2 hours before scheduled departure time and the closing time is 30 to 45 minutes depending on the departure airports. For long-haul flights the starting time is 3 hours and the closing time is 60 to 90 minutes depending on the departure airport.

Please note that you must plan to be through passport/security control at least 30 to 60 minutes before your flight’s scheduled departure time.

Excess baggage

What is Eurowings excess baggage fees?

If you want to take more with Eurowings flights or your baggage exceeds Eurowings Checked baggage allowance weight or size, an excess baggage fee will apply.

Eurowings discriminates between excess baggage in hand luggage and checked baggage. The first type requires a payment of 35€ in short and mid-distance flights and 70€ in long distance.

checked baggage has an additional charge of 50€ in short and mid-distance flights and 100€ in long distance flights.

If excess baggage charges (checked baggage) will be paid at the airport, then Eurowings charges 12€ per kg in short and mid-distance flights, and 20€ per kg in long distance flights.
