Where Is London Fog From?

London Fog is a US based company, specializing in manufacturing apparel and travel accessories.

The company was established back in 1923 by a guy named Israel Myers and they started primarily as a clothing company, making waterproof coats for the U.S. navy during WWII.

They only started manufacturing luggage in 1970, like suitcases ,garment bags and handbags.

The company has a strong presence in women and kids clothes, umbrella handbags, watches and luggage.

If you wonder where the London Fog luggage is made, the majority of their products are manufactured in China.

All right, let’s talk about the quality of their suitcases.

Does London Fog Have Good Luggage?

Quality

London Fog luggage collections feature the two popular luggage types, soft-shell and hardshell luggage, and if you want to know more about their differences you can find more here.

  •  Soft Sided luggage:

Soft Sided suitcases like the Cambridge II collection are made from the woven houndstooth fabric, supported with EVA foam which is lightweight, solid and durable material.

The way the bags are manufactured are different from Lucas luggage even though they have almost the same look.

  •   Hardside luggage:

Hard sided suitcases like Kingsbury Luggage are made from the lightweight polycarbonate, which is an extremely rugged material and one of the stardust materials in the market, but one of the flaws of the polycarbonate is it gets scratched easily if you don’t use a luggage cover.

Features

  •  Soft Sided suitcases:

London Fog suitcases are spacious, with expandable ample compartments.

The soft sided suitcases have additional external zippered pockets, for more organization, and all the collections have almost the same features.

Textile suitcases have a single spinner wheel and telescopic handles, even though they are not sturdy compared to hard sided luggage.

  •   Hardside luggage:

Hardsided luggage apparently do not have any external pockets, and few internal compartments.

One important thing to know is that only a few suitcases have the TSA approved locks , so you will need to use your own padded lock if you want to secure your suitcase.

The double spinner wheels and handles are featured in most hard sided suitcases, which will give you a smooth maneuverability of your luggage.

Design

Some of the London Fog suitcases designs may look pretty basic for some people but most of their bags are stylish especially the under-seat pieces.

In some hard-sided suitcases the designs are sleek meanwhile to be scratch resistant.

One thing to note is that both collections come in limited color choices, they don’t have a wide range of colors to choose from, so getting a luggage cover will definitely help change your suitcase look.

Warranty

London Fog luggage offers a 10 year limited warranty for almost all their luggage collections.

The warranty covers only manufacturing and workmanship defects.

It doesn’t cover airlines damage or any other defects caused with any type of transportation or misuse.

For instance if an airline breaks the wheels of your suitcase you need to make a claim with the airline at the airport instead of reaching out to London Fog.

A proper solution for this is to give the suitcase a solid rough handling test before you take it on your first trip.

There are so many techniques and procedures to follow to find out if the bag will withstand or not, you can find them here.

Prices

If you are Judging by the first look, you may think that London Fog is an expensive brand.

But all their suitcases are mid priced, and you can even get a discount or find a suitcase on sale.

Soft sided prices are just a little above $100 while the hard sided bags range between $100 and $200.

London Fog Luggage Dimensions And Weight

The brand’s most lightweight model weighs only 6 lbs / 2.7 kg, and the rest of the models are above 6 lbs / 2.7 kg.

You will need to double check the size of the suitcase you wanted to get.

Some of the suitcases are above airlines carry-on size limits, and some passengers claimed that their carry-on was gate checked because of the size.

Final Thoughts: How Good Is London Fog Luggage?

Overall  London Fog is an affordable and durable choice.

Most people are pretty satisfied with what they get with the price tag, some of their pieces actually get compliments from many owners.

If you are a frequent traveler, I recommend that you opt for a hard-sided suitcase for checked baggage, and a soft sided one for carry-on or under-seat, as they are pretty close to brands like Samsonite and TravelPro.
