Printers are safe to be packed in checked luggage. If you pack your printer neatly, most airlines will not restrict it.
There are two things you should consider when traveling with a printer in your checked bag.
The weight and the size of your printer, however you don’t need to worry much about it. The maximum weight for each airline is a standard 50 pounds per checked bag as well as a standard size of 62 inches (height + width + length).
Most standard printers do not exceed 40 inches in total and 20 pounds in weight.
The second is to ensure that your printer won’t get stolen or break during the handling process, or in the baggage carousel, this doesn’t always happen but it is better to be aware of it before it occurs.
If you like, it is better to ship your printer with FedEx, UPS or other carriers, otherwise try to transport it as much as possible in carry-on luggage.
If not, your last chance is to take it as checked luggage (watch the video below for better packaging), and make sure to remove some easy to break components and take them with you on board.
