So if you find out that you will exceed Lufthansa airlines standard baggage allowance or you need to take more luggage with you, paying for extra baggage is the right thing to do.
Economy class and premium class guests they are entitled to carry one item of carry-on on board, such as a trolley case, a compact, foldable baby buggy or a foldable garment bag with the following size and weight:
- size for carry on bag: up to 8 kg
- Dimensions for carry-on baggage: max. 55 x 40 x 23 cm
- Dimensions for foldable garment bags: max. 57 x 54 x 15 cm
For Business and First Class guests are entitled for 2 two carry on items with the same dimensions and weight as the following:
- size for carry on bag: up to 8 kg
- Dimensions for carry-on baggage: max. 55 x 40 x 23 cm
- Dimensions for foldable garment bags: max. 57 x 54 x 15 cm
In addition to your carry on allowance you are also allowed to carry an extra item that can be a handbag, laptop bag or other item that must not exceed the following dimensions (max. height=30 cm length=40 cm width=10 cm.
Lufthansa also allows free transport of a pushchair or baby basket. Disabled Guests are allowed free transport of two wheelchairs or other mobility aids in addition to their free baggage allowance.
How to stow your carry-on baggage in the cabin?
- For larger items of carry-on baggage, such as trolley cases, please use the overhead locker above your seat
- Please stow your personal items, such as laptop bags, shopping bags or handbags, under the seat in front of you.
- Jackets and coats can simply be hung up on the hook on the seat in front of you.
- Please note that the overhead lockers above the emergency exit rows are reserved for the passengers who are sitting there.

Lufthansa allowed the following free checked baggage allowance for intercontinental flights :
