JetBlue Carry on Policy

With the exception of Blue Basic fares booked on or after 2/25/21 for travel 7/20/21 or later, all fares also include 1 carry-on bag that fits in the overhead bin. Including wheels and handles, carry-on bags must not exceed 22″ L (55.88 cm) x 14″ W (35.56 cm) x 9″ H (22.86 cm).

if you’re booking 2/25/21 or later for travel 7/20/21 or later and prefer to carry on your bags or stow something in the overhead bin, be sure to book a Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra or Mint fare.

Starting 7/20, on domestic flights within the U.S , passengers traveling on a Blue, Blue Extra and Mint fare or who purchase and Even More® Space seat holders are able to carry their carry-on on board, as long as it meets all the requirements.

For other  routes, overhead bin space is first-come, first-served, based on availability. Those in later boarding groups may be required to gate-check their carry-on bags.

Please note that carry-on bags must be stowed properly in the overhead cabin or under the seat in front of you, while your personal item must be placed under the seat in front of you.

If your carry-on bag does not fit in the overhead locker, the bag will be checked at the gate.

Since you won’t have access to baggage that you will check in, make sure that you carry all your travel documents, medication and valuables in your cabin baggage, which will be with you throughout your flight. You should also remember to label your checked baggage with your name and contact information.

JetBlue Personal Item

According to JetBlue, All JetBlue Guests are allowed 1 personal item—like a purse, daypack, laptop bag or approved pet carrier—that fits under the seat in front of you and doesn’t exceed 17″ L (43.2 cm) x 13″ W (33 cm) x 8″ H (20.32 cm).

Additional small items

In addition to your carry-on bag and personal item you can bring additional items free of charge.

These items are not counted toward you main carry on bag.

JetBlue Carry on Liquids Policy

All US airlines including JetBlue follow the TSA liquid rules.

So if you are planning to bring liquids on your flight you will be resumed to follow the TSA 3-1-1 liquid rules.

No more than 3.4 oz / 100 ml for each container packed in a single quart sized bag, you will be repaired to remove your liquids form your carry on bag and placed in a separated bin for further screening.

How strict are JetBlue with carry on size?

JetBlue is somewhat strict on its carry-one size limits.

If you show up to the airport with a bag that is way above the allowed size, there are more chances that your bag will be subject to checked baggage rules.

Larger suitcases won’t fit in either the overhead bin or under the seat in-front of you.

So ensure that you take a suitcase that is within JetBlue carry on size limits.

On the other hand there are no minimum size requirements for carry on bags.

How strict are JetBlue with carry on Weight?

Just like any other US airlines there are no restrictions on the weight for both carry-on and personal item bags.

That will give you more chances to take more even if you have a small suitcase.

You don”t need to place large items like coats and jackets inside our bag, you can either wear them or take them in your hand and they won’t count toward your carry on baggage.

Here is an answer from JetBlue states that there is no specified weight limit for carry on bags.

JetBlue Checked Baggage Allowance

If your carry-on bag is above the mentioned dimensions, you have the choice to check your bag.

JetBlue always offer fare options that includes different numbers of checked bags that exceed 62″ (157.48 cm) in overall dimensions (length + width + height), including wheels / handles, or exceed 50 pounds(22.68 kg) will also incur a fee, baggage fees are assessed per one way flight.

  • For Blue Plus fares, one (1) checked bag is included and the second checked bag fee is $40.
  • For Blue Flex fares, two (2) checked bags are included.
  • For Mint® fares, two checked bags up to 70 pounds each are included.
  • For all fares, any additional bags are $150 each.

Final Thoughts

JetBlue is stricter about their luggage than other airlines.

If your bag is slightly larger than the permitted size it will be subject to checked baggage rules?

So to avoid any headache and unnecessary inconvenience at the airport.

We hope this helps

Happy travels
