What is Royal Jordanian Carry On Baggage Rules?

Royal Jordanian is the flag carrier airline of Jordan.

Royal Jordanian Carry On Baggage Rules

Royal Jordan Allows its Guests to have one carry on bag and one personal item free of charge as follows.

Crown Class Guests

Crown class Guests can have two pieces of carry-on baggage in the cabin on all types of aircraft, except on Embraers where only one piece is allowed, according to the set size, weight and shape.

Economy Class Passengers 

One piece of carry-on baggage is allowed per person according to the set size, weight and shape.

Each piece of Carry-on baggage for both Crown and Economy class shall meet the following conditions:

  • It shall be of a size, weight and shape to fit under a passenger seat or in an enclosed storage compartment;
  • Its weight shall not exceed 7 kgs.
  • It may have maximum dimensions of ( 9 X16 X20 in) or ( 23 X 41 X 51 cm) however, the sum of the three dimensions shall not exceed (45 inches) (115 cm). These dimensions include wheels, handles, side pockets, etc.

Checked Baggage Allowance & Excess Chargers from/to North America

Crown Class

Crown class Guests are allowed Two pieces of baggage with the following weight and dimensions:

  • The first with a weight of up to 30 kg and the second is up to 23 kg
  • The dimensions of one piece must not exceed 158 cm/62 inches
  • 250 USD For each additional bag up to 158 cm/62 inches and weight of maximum 23 kg/50 lbs. (to be paid at the Airport). 
  • Bags weighing between 23 kg/50 lbs. and 32 kg/70 lbs, the excess weight charge will be 100 USD per bag. 

Economy Class 

  • -Free baggage allowance for Adults or Children is limited to two (2) pieces the sum of 3 dimensions of one piece must not exceed 158 cm/62 inches and weight of maximum 23 kg/50 lbs.
  • 250 USD For each additional bag up to 158 cm/62 inches and weight of maximum 23 kg/50 lbs. (to be paid at the Airport). 
  • Bags weighing between 23 kg/50 lbs. and 32 kg/70 lbs., the excess weight charge will be 100 USD per bag. 

Children Fare  (Except Super Special Instant Purchase fares)

  • The same free baggage allowance as passengers paying adult fare.

Infants Fare (Except Super Special Instant Purchase fares)

  • -Free baggage allowance for Infants is limited to one (1) piece of checked luggage, the sum of the 3 dimensions must not exceed 115 cm/45 inches and weight of maximum 23 kg/50 lbs.
  • Super Special Instant Purchase Fares
  • free Checked baggage allowance for Adults or Children is limited to one (1) piece only, the total of 3 dimensions of one piece must not exceed 158 cm/62 inches and weight of maximum 23 kg/50 lbs.
  • Infants can have one piece (1) only, the total of 3 dimensions of one piece must not exceed 115 cm/45 inches and weight of maximum 10 kg / 22 lbs.
  • 250 USD For each additional bag up to 158 cm/62 inches and weight of maximum 23 kg/50 lbs. (to be paid at the Airport). 
  • Bags weighing between 23 kg/50 lbs. and 32 kg/70 lbs., the excess weight charge will be 100 USD per bag. 

Checked baggage allowance to all Other destinations

Crown Class Guests
Crown Class Guests are allowed Two pieces of checked baggage with the follwoing requirements:

  • The weight of the first is up to 30 kg
  • The weight of the second is up to 23 kg.
  • The linear dimensions of one piece must not exceed 158 cm/62 inches

Economy Class Guests
Economy class Guests are allowed One piece of checked baggage with the following requirements:

  • up to 30 kg to all other destinations than the routes listed above. Except  ( From/To Tunis- Bangkok ) ; the baggage allowance will be Two pieces up to 23 kg:

RJ Special Baggage Rules

Snow / Water Ski 
Snow skiing equipment consisting of NOT more than one set will be counted as one piece consisting of:

  • one pair of skis, one pair of ski poles, one pair of boots, or,
  • one snow board, one pair of boots, or,
  • one pair of standard water skis, or,
  • one slalom water ski.

One set of snow water ski equipment may be included in the free checked Baggage Allowance, if in excess it shall be charged 33% of the applicable excess baggage charges.

Golfing Equipment
Golfing equipment contained in NOT more than one golf bag which may include golf balls and a pair of golf shoes, may be included in free checked Baggage allowance.

If in excess, it shall be charged 50% of the applicable excess baggage charges.

Bowling equipment

One item of bowling equipment consisting of one bowling ball, one bowling bag, and one pair of bowling shoes will be counted as one piece at 158cm (62 inches) and may be included in the free checked Baggage Allowance. If in excess, applicable excess baggage charges shall apply

Bicycles
One non-motorized touring/racing single-seat Bicycle may be included in the free checked Baggage Allowance. If in excess, applicable excess baggage charges shall apply.

Bicycles will be accepted provided the handlebars are turned sideways; the pedals removed, and placed in a sturdy cardboard container

Scuba Diving Equipment
One item of scuba diving equipment may be included in determining the free baggage allowance and is defined as:

  • one empty scuba tanks,
  • one scuba regulator,
  • one tank harness,
  • one tank pressure gauge,
  • one mask, two fins,
  • one snorkel, one knife, one spear gun and one safety vest;

Regardless of actual dimensions, scuba diving equipment will be considered one piece of baggage whose outside linear dimensions are 158cm (62 inches).

when in excess, it will be subject to excess charges for a single piece whether or not presented as a single piece

Fishing Equipment
One item of fishing equipment consisting of not more than, one landing net, one pair of fishing boots and one fishing tackle box (all properly encased) two rods, one reel; will be counted as one piece at 158cm (62 inches) when in excess, it will be subject to excess charges for a single piece whether or not presented as a single piece

Sleeping bag, bedroll, duffel bag or B-4 type bag
Will be counted as one piece regardless of actual dimensions

Rucksack, backpack, knapsack
Will be counted as one piece regardless of actual dimensions

Surfboarding and Windsurfing Equipment 
Surfboarding/Windsurfing equipment shall not be included in the free checked baggage allowance and shall be charged as follows:

  • One board not exceeding 109in (277 cm): charged at 50% of the applicable first additional piece charges.
  • One board exceeding 109in (277 cm): first additional piece applicable charges.
  • Additional boards: applicable excess baggage charge.

Musical Instruments
Small musical instruments may be carried on-board the aircraft providing they meet existing carry-on size requirements and fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

The suitcase dimensions may not exceed 115 cms/45 inches (width+length+height), except for guitars which may be brought on board only if they can be safely stowed in an overhead bin or approved stowage location in the cabin.

The instrument is considered the passenger’s one allowed carry-on bag. A personal item is allowed in addition to the instrument.

If an instrument is too large to fit in the carry-on baggage space, an additional seat may be purchased.

In this case, an instrument must travel in a window, bulkhead seat, with the customer in the adjoining seat.

Instruments may also be transported as checked baggage ; “Due to Musical Instruments fragile nature RJ is not liable for any damage to checked musical instruments if not presented in a hard-sided case and If the outside of the hard-sided case does not have visible damage”.
