What is Hong Kong Airlines Carry On Baggage Policy?

Allowance for Business class passenger:

All Hong konG Airlines Guests are allowed to have TWO pieces of cabin baggage, which must not exceed 45 inches ( 22″ x 14″ x 9″ or 56cm x 36cm x 23cm) in size and 7kg/15Ibs in weight for each cabin baggage

Allowance for Economy class passenger:

Each Guest is allowed to carry ONE piece of cabin baggage, which must not exceed 45 inches ( 22″ x 14″ x 9″ or 56cm x 36cm x 23cm) in size and 7kg/15Ibs in weight.

Duty-free items are included in your cabin baggage allowance.
All excess or bulky hand baggage, exceeding the limitations, will be intercepted and stowed in the aircraft hold.

The excess carry-on baggage will be subject to a charge (regardless of whether the check-in baggage allowance is used or not). 

In addition to the checked and unchecked baggage allowance,HK Guests are Allowed to bring 1 more small item aboard the aircraft in addition to their cabin luggage. These items include:

  • –   Small handbags
  • –   Laptop bags
  • –   Small backpacks
  • –   Camera bags
  • –   Briefcases

At the boarding gate, all the excessive or bulky hand baggage, exceeding the limitations, will be intercepted and stowed in the aircraft hold. 

Please proceed to boarding gate at least 30 minutes before departure time in order to allow ample time to make arrangement for your excessive hand baggage.

To maintain on time departure, Hong Kong Airlines reserves the right to refuse acceptance of late show passengers. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

How Strict is Hong Kong Airlines with carry on baggage Policy?

Honk Kong Airlines are bit strict about carrying of certain items onboard its aircraft’s ;Aerosols and Gels items is the same for all normal journey.

However, Guests are reminded that they are not allowed to board the plane if they are carrying any forms of liquid, aerosols or gels over 100 ml per bottle and 1,000 ml in total (including Duty Free products regardless of sealed or not).

Airport Security Officials will conduct a secondary security check on all passengers’ cabin baggage before boarding. All these prohibited items must be disposed immediately before boarding.

For Australian bound passengers without any connecting flight, they can purchased liquidm aerosols and gels items through in-flight duty free sales of their last flying sector.

Hong Kong Airlines Checked Baggage Policy

Hong Kong Airlines allows as checked baggage / hold luggage policy is two pieces of baggage, each not exceeding 62 in/158 cm of length, width and height, and each not exceeding 50 lb for Economy Class passengers and 70 lb for Business Class passengers.

Platinum, Gold and Silver Fortune Wings Club members get an extra allowance of 1 piece of luggage fitting the restrictions for their class set above. This is applicable on the following routes:

  • Between Hong Kong and Saipan, Canada, the United States, Australia, or New Zealand
  • Between Area 3 and Saipan, Canada, the United States, Australia, or New Zealand via Hong Kong
  • Within Australia and New Zealand

For other routes Economy Class Guests have a limit of 20 kg of checked luggage and Business Class Guests have a limit of 30 kg of checked luggage.

Platinum and Gold Fortune Wings Club members get an extra allowance of 30 kg in both classes, and Silber Fortune Wings members get an extra allowance of 20 kg in both classes.

please note that No single piece of checked luggage should exceed 32 kg and 62 in/158 cm of length, width and height.

Excess Baggage

All carry-on baggage exceeding the limitations and/or allowance will be stowed in the aircraft hold at a charge of HDK 500, regardless of whether the checked baggage allowance has been used.

Hong Kong Airlines (HX) will charge the following for excess baggage on flights between Hong Kong and Saipan, Canada, the United States, Australia, or New Zealand:

  • $300 USD for a bag up to 50 lb and 62 in of length, width and height
  • $400 USD for a bag up to 70 lb and 62 in of length, width and height
  • $500 USD for a bag up to 70 lb and 80 in of length, width and height

Special Baggage

Special baggage is handled as Checked baggage, if you special item exceed Hong Kong (HX) standard checked baggage allowance, an excess baggage fee will apply; Different regulations and charges will be applied to the special baggage listed below. For further information please contact Hong Kong Airlines customer service center at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure time.

Archery Equipment 1.     Pre-advise at the time of booking.
2.     Regardless of the actual dimension may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
3.     One item of archery equipment per customer as checked baggage.
4.     Content:
   • Including one bow case containing bows, one quiver with arrows, and maintenance kit of sufficient strength to protect items from accidental damage.
   • All items must be properly encased in a suitable container at the time of check-in.
Scuba Diving Equipment

1.     Pre-advise at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time
2.     Regardless of the actual dimension may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
3.     Content:
   • Including one empty scuba tank, one scuba regulator, one tank harness, one tank pressure gauge, mask, fins, snorkel and safety vest.
   • All items must be properly encased in a suitable container at the time of check-in.


Angling / Fishing Equipment
 

1.     Pre-advise at the time of booking.
2.     Regardless of the actual dimension may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
3.     Content:
   • Including one fishing tackle box, landing net, fishing boots, one reel and two rods
   • All items must be properly encased in a suitable container at the time of check-in.
