What Is FlyDubai Baggage Allowance?

Cabin Baggage / carry-on luggage

FlyDubai cabin baggage is as follows:

  • Economy class: number of items 1, maximum weight 7 kg, Maximum size 55 * 38 * 20 cm
  • Business class : number of bags 2, Maximum weight 14 kg, Maximum size 55 * 38 * 20 cm

In addition to your cabin baggage you are also allowed to carry the following on board :

  • One laptop bag
  • One small ladies handbag/gentlemen’s satchel (not exceeding 25 cm× 33 cm × 20 cm)
  • One duty free shopping bag

How Strict Is FlyDubai with hand luggage?

Please note that your cabin bag should not exceed the maximum size so you can store it in the overhead locker or under the seat in front of you.

If your hand baggage is too big or too heavy to carry on board, you’ll need to check it in at the flydubai check-in desk subject to your checked baggage allowance and applicable excess baggage rates. Before checking in your hand baggage, please remove any valuable items (e.g. money, jewellery, precious metals) and documents (e.g. passports, business documents, securities deeds).

Checked Baggage / Hold Luggage

Economy Class

Economy class guests are allowed a Maximum number of 3 items with a maximum weight of 20.30 or 40 kg and a maximum size of 75 * 55 *35 cm, however Economy Class baggage allowance is included in some fare types. If your fare includes checked baggage allowance but you want to take additional luggage, you are able to pre-pay to check in 30kg or 40 kg,

Business class

Business Class Guests are allowed a  checked baggage allowance  up to 3 pieces of baggage with a total weight of 40 kg and a maximum size of 75 * 55 * 35 cm. Any additional bag will be charged at the excess baggage rate and will be carried subject to space available on the flight.

How Strict Is FlyDubai With Checked Baggage?

  • FlyDubai Checked baggage must have at least one flat surface and contain no loose straps.
  • Checked baggage must be sufficiently robust, well packed and secured to sustain normal rigours of air travel without getting damaged.
  • Checked baggage items must not be attached together. 
  • Irregular-shaped checked baggage without a flat surface must be placed inside a box with a maximum dimension of height 75 x width 55 x depth 35 cm. 
  • A tag, or a secure sticker, containing the passenger’s name, full address and a telephone number must be added to and inside each item of checked baggage.
  • You must not include any valuable items (including, for example, money, jewellery, precious metals) or valuable documents (including, for example, business documents, passports and other identification documents, negotiable papers, securities deeds) in your checked baggage.

Smart Baggage

Smart bags have integrated lithium batteries that allow charging external devices, GPS tracking, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, self-weighing, and digital locking.

You can carry a smart bag as both checked and hand baggage, provided you meet the requirements.

Effective 15 January 2018, the following restrictions will apply for smart bags on all flydubai flights.

Hand baggage:

  • At the time of check-in, you must advise the staff you are travelling with a smart bag.
  • Lithium battery must be removable.
  • Lithium battery must not exceed power rating of more than 100Wh (Li-ion) or 2g (Li-metal).
  • Lithium battery must not be used to charge any device onboard the aircraft and any transmitting functions, that is, GPS tracking, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi must be switched off. The smart bag must be powered off throughout the flight.
  • The smart bag must be within hand baggage allowance.

Checked baggage:

  • At the time of check-in, you must advise the staff you are traveling with a smart bag.
  • Lithium batteries must be removed and carried in your hand baggage.
  • Lithium batteries must not exceed a power rating of more than 100Wh (for Li-ion) or 2g (for Li-metal).
  • Removed lithium batteries carried in your hand baggage must be protected from activation, short-circuit, and any damage.
