Do Hotels Have Toothpaste?

Hotel toothpaste will be a lifesaver for keeping your teeth healthy if you forgot your toothpaste or the TSA confiscates the one you intended to use.

But if you seek the truth whether your hotel will have toothpaste or not, unfortunately the answer is not straightforward as you may think but here is what to keep in mind.

The availability of toothpaste in hotels will depend on its star, location, and specific policies, however; you can have a toothpaste and even a toothbrush on almost any hotel if you request it at the check in desk.

In this post, I will explore the question of whether hotels have toothpaste and what you can do if they don’t provide it.

Let’s dive in and find out.

TL;DR:

  • Not all hotels will have toothpaste in their rooms.
  • Many hotels provide toothpaste at the reception desk, so it is always worth asking if you need some.
  • The toothpaste provided with some hotels may not be your favorite brand, or become  less-effective fluoride.
  • Some hotels have branded toothpaste and other amenities with their own label. Feel free to use them and even take them with you, but it’s a good idea to ask the hotel clerks first.

Do All Hotel Rooms Have Toothpaste?

Not all hotels provide toothpaste in their rooms.

However, some hotel rooms do have toothpaste and even toothbrushes as part of their amenities, but you need to ask for it at the reception desk.

If you are thinking about other toiletries, like soap, shampoo or conditioner etc, most hotels provide them, so you don’t need to bother packing them.

According to Mental Floss, some hotels don’t have toothpaste in their rooms because it’s more expensive than other toiletries like soap and shampoo.

Some toothpastes are also regulated as a drug, which makes it even more expensive for 5 star hotels to provide for every guest.

Additionally, the use of toothpaste is a personal preference and most travelers pack their favorite brand.

However, there are exceptions. For example some Hyatt hotels offer tubes of toothpaste in certain rooms.

Mitesh just confirmed on X that Hyatt hotels give him his favorite toothpaste brand.

So if you’re staying at a Hyatt hotel, you might be in luck!

I also searched if hotels have toothpaste on Reddit.

And here is screenshot.

Most hotels do not provide toothpaste in their rooms because it is more expensive compared to other amenities like shampoo or a shower cap.

Toothpaste is also a consumable item that people use frequently.

A big 34 fl oz bottle of shampoo for just $11, while a small 4 oz tube of toothpaste costs $5.

But as a general rule next time if you’re staying at a hotel and you don’t find a toothpaste in the room just ask the hotel housekeeping or reception.

While it may be disappointing if your hotel doesn’t provide a toothpaste, but there are still several alternatives to keep your fresh smile.

Bring your favorite toothpaste

The easiest solution is to pack a travel sized toothpaste , Floss and even some charcoal in your backpack. This way, you won’t have to worry about whether or not your hotel will provide toothpaste.

Ask at the front desk for a toothpaste

If you forgot your toothpaste or ran out during your stay, you can always ask the front desk if they have any available.

Hotels want to offer good customer service, so I’m sure they will happily give it to you.

While not all hotels will have toothpaste on hand, some might be able to provide you with a complimentary small tiny tube of toothpaste.

Tiktoker @raina_elegado shared this tiny mini brand toothpaste that she found on her hotel room which will be enough for one night.

Make sure you always check the expiration date on the hotel toothpaste before using it, Expired toothpaste is not harmful but it does lessen in its ability to prevent cavities and tooth decay. but it’s best to use toothpaste that hasn’t reached its expiration date.

Important

Get toothpaste at your destination

You can always buy toothpaste at a local store. Most convenience stores, drugstores, pharmacies do have popular brands like Colgate, Sensodyne, and Crest.

While it may not be easy to find your favorite brand in some destinations, but it might be the opportunity to explore new toothpaste products and brands.

The takeaway

While most hotels won’t have toothpaste or mouthwash on their rooms, there are still ways to get your hands on some and keep up with your smile.

Whether you bring your own, ask the front desk, or buy some at a nearby store, so there’s no need to go without toothpaste during your travels.

Hope this helps
