What Considered Extra/ Excess Baggage On Lufthansa?
In Economy / Premium Economy Class, a piece of baggage is considered to be excess baggage when it weighs more than 23 kg (up to a maximum of 32 kg) and/or is larger than 158 cm (the sum of width X + height Y + depth Z up to a maximum of 292 cm).
In Business/First Class a piece of baggage is considered to be excess baggage when its total dimensions are greater than 158 cm up to a maximum of 292 cm.
Extra Baggage Cost On Economy Class And Premium Economy Lufthansa?
The rates for excess baggage can be displayed in several currencies. In this case, the following currencies serve as the basis for calculating the respective prices in the local currency:
- EUR (for bag drop-off in Europe)
- CAD (for bag drop-off in Canada)
- JPY (for bag drop-off in Japan)
- USD (for bag drop-off in all other countries not listed above)
Prices may vary on routes to/from the USA or Canada.
The currency applicable at the bag drop-off location will be used for the calculation of the charges for the entire itinerary. Where appropriate, a conversion into the local currency is made afterwards.
For flights where the destination and/or origin airport is not the same in both directions or when you have a stopover of more than 24 hours, the baggage charge of the furthermost point on the entire route will be charged.
