What Are Austrian Airlines Carry On Baggage Allowance?

All Austrian airlines guests with Economy and premium Economy class are allowed to carry on board the aircraft one carry on bag with the following dimensions (55 cm * 40 cm * 23 cm) and a maximum weight of 8 kg in addition of one personal item with the maximum sizes 40 x 30 x 10 cm and must fit under the seat in front of you and it can be one of the following:

  • a handbag or
  • a laptop bag or
  • a shoulder bag

For business class ticket holders they are allowed 2 piece of carry on baggage in addition of one personal item sizes 40 x 30 x 10 cm and it can be one of the following:

  • a handbag or
  • a laptop bag or
  • a shoulder bag

Please note that Depending on the operating aircraft type and/or fulfilling safety requirements of national authorities; in exceptional cases the hand baggage allowance for Business class guests may be reduced to 1 piece of hand baggage only.

Carry on Restrictions

To protect against the threat of liquid explosives, the EU has passed a regulation that governs and limits the transport of liquids in hand luggage.

This concerns passengers who are departing from an airport within the EU or have a connecting flight there.

It should be noted that similar regulations may also apply outside the EU. The relevant information can normally be found on the airport operator’s website.

The definition of liquids includes pastes, lotions, mixtures of liquids and solids and the contents of pressure containers, such as toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, shaving foam and other items with a similar consistency.

Air Austrian Checked Baggage Allowance Connecting Flights

If your trip includes flights with other airlines, your free baggage allowance may be determined by the policy of the airline that has the longest journey.

In such cases, the weight scheme may also be applied, which means that your baggage allowance is shown as a total weight regardless of the number of pieces, e.g. 20K (for 20 kg) or 30K (for 30 kg).

What is Austrian Airlines Additional baggage and excess baggage allowance?

In case you exceed the airline baggage allowance, an excess baggage fee will apply ; the fees will depend on your route and booking destination.
