Bahamas Airlines Carry-on Baggage

All Bahamasair guests are allowed to carry on board the aircraft one (1) personal item and one carry-on bag on all international flights, and domestic flights (excluding Long Island, Acklins, Crooked Island, Mayaguana and Inagua) with following restrictions.

  • Maximum size: 22″x14″x9″ & 30lbs (13.6kg) FREE

On flights to and from Long Island, Acklins, Crooked Island, Mayaguana and Inagua one carry-on bag

  • Maximum weight:  18lbs (8.16 kg) FREE

In addition of your carry on baggage you are also allowed to have certain items, as follows:

  • A lady’s handbag, lady’s pocketbook or lady’s purse-, i.e., which is appropriate to normal traveling dress and is not being used as a container for the transportation of articles which would otherwise be regarded as baggage.
  • A briefcase for Laptop computers.
  • An overcoat, wrap or blanket.
  • An umbrella or walking stick.
  • A small camera and/or a pair of binoculars.
  • A reasonable amount of reading matter for the flight.
  • Infant’s food for consumption in flight
  • Infant’s carrying basket
  • Invalid’s fully collapsible wheelchair and/or a pair of crutches, and/or braces or other prosthetic device provided that the passenger is dependent upon them.

Checked Baggage Excess Charges – Domestic and Turks & Caicos:

Free baggage allowance policy is: two (2) bags restricted to a combined weight of 44 lbs (19.96 kg) and total circumference not greater than 62″ (width + height + breadth)

Bahamas Air Lost Baggage

For domestic flights Bahamasair will reimburse up to $453.50 per ticketed domestic guest for lost or damaged checked baggage, subject to claim verification.

For international flights the airline will reimburse up to $9.07 per pound, up to a maximum weight of 50 pounds per checked bag (a maximum of $453.50 per checked bag).

For travel governed by the Montreal Convention, we will reimburse up to maximum SDR (special drawing rights) per ticketed customer.

These limits may be lower for additional pieces to certain international destinations or when using connecting carriers.
