Carry-on Baggage

How strict is Tarom airlines baggage?

All Tarom Guests are allowed the following carry on baggage allowance:

  • one hand baggage size maximum 55 x 40 x 20cm (length x width x height), if you travel with an aircraft type Boeing and Airbus.
  • if you are Traveling on ATR 42 / ATR 72 crafts your luggage carried to the cabin should not exceed the following dimensions: 35x 30 x 20cm (length x width x height).
  • The total weight of your hand baggage must not exceed 10 kg.

In addition of your carry on luggage you are also allowed to carry the following:

  • a bag or briefcase or a camera / video bag or laptop or other object with similar dimensions

Shared Flights Policy

These regulations apply only for flights operated by TAROM on its own aircrafts. In case of code-share flights operated by the TAROM partners, other regulations imposed by the flight operator may apply.

If TAROM shares parts of route on the ticket with other transporters, the rules and fees for extra baggage of the first flight operator on the itinerary (TAROM) shall apply for the sector/sectors where the baggage is registered; please be aware that you might be charged for excess baggage by the other flight operators on the route.

Free shipping of 30kg/piece*, on direct flights, between:
-Bucharest – Amman- Bucharest or between Romania* and Amman, Amman- Bucharest – Amman or via Bucharest between Jordan and Romania*
-Bucharest – Beirut- Bucharest or between Romania* and Beirut, Beirut – Bucharest – Amman or via Bucharest between Lebanon and Romania*
-Bucharest – Rome – Bucharest , Rome – Bucharest – Rome
Bucharest and all domestic flights operated by TAROM with Boeing and Airbus aircraft
-For Guests with Business Class tickets, 3 pieces of luggage with weight of 30 Kg each (the pieces will be weighed individually, if one piece will have a weight higher than the mentioned limit, the regulations related to the luggage surplus will be applied, even if the total of the three pieces does not exceed the offered maximum limit);
-for Guests Economy Class tickets , 1 piece of luggage with the maximum weight of 30 Kg is offered;
-the luggage sizes will be standard TAROM, namely the maximum admitted sum of the sizes of each piece (height + length + width) is of maximum 158 cm.

Please note: Infants that do not reserve a seat: their free baggage allowance, cannot be combined with the adult free allowance, the excess of free baggage allowance given for the infants will cause excess baggage charges for adults.

Restricted Baggage

For your safety and safety of all Tarom Airline Guests Some Item are not permitted on board the airplane or even to travel as checked baggage:

  • Blades and any sharp, blunt, metallic or non-metallic items (e.g. nail scissors, razor blades,etc.).
  • Firearms.
  • Hunting and sport weapon cartridges and ammunition.
  • Perfume bottles exceeding 100 ml / 3.4 fl. Oz.
  • Cosmetic aerosol containers exceeding 100 ml / 3.4 fl. Oz.
  • Toy guns or gun replicas.
  • Thermometer, medical or clinical, which contains mercury. May be carried only in checked baggage, maximum one (1) per person for personal use, when in its protective case

  • Spare lithium batteries.
  • Electronic Cigarettes containing batteries (including e-cigars, e-pipes, other personal vaporizers containing batteries) and any associated spare batteries.
  • Fuel cells containing fuel, powering portable electronic devices (e.g. cameras, cellular phones, laptop computers and camcorders).
