What is ITA carry on baggage allowance?
Carry on weight and size restrictions:
All ITA guests are allowed to carry on board the aircraft one carry on bag for free with the following dimensions:

In addition of your free cabin bag, ITA also lets you bring an accessory of your choice from the following:

Note:
Before proceeding to the boarding gate, check the size and weight of your hand baggage with ITA ground personnel or by placing it in one of the baggage measurers near the check-in desk. The hand baggage of passengers who fail to perform this check may not be accepted on board.

Cabin baggage restricted items
For your safety and safety of ITA Guests some items that considered dangerous for flight security are not permitted in the cabin, such as: scissors, pencil sharpeners, pocket knives, and agricultural, scientific, sports and industrial (or similar) tools, as well as replica firearms. The use of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes), electronic cigars and electronic pipes is prohibited in the cabin. Lighters may only be brought on board on your person.
The following items are not permitted on board:
a. guns, firearms and other devices that discharge projectiles (devices capable, or appearing capable, of being used to cause serious injury by discharging a projectile), including:
- firearms of all types, such as pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns,
- toy guns, replicas and imitation firearms capable of being mistaken for real weapons,
- component parts of firearms, excluding telescopic sights,
- compressed air and CO2 guns, such as pistols, pellet guns, rifles and ball bearing guns,
- signal flare pistols and starter pistols,
- bows, cross bows and arrows,
- harpoon guns and spear guns,
- slingshots and catapults;
b. stunning devices (devices designed specifically to stun or immobilize, including:
- devices for shocking, such as stun guns, tasers and stun batons,
- animal stunners and animal killers,
- disabling and incapacitating chemicals, gases and sprays, such as mace, pepper sprays, capsicum sprays, tear gas, acid sprays and animal repellent sprays;
What is ITA checked baggage allowance?
ITA checked baggage allowance can have a maximum size of 158 cm (the sum of height + width + depth) and a maximum weight of 23 or 32 kg, depending on your booking ticket and destination as described bellow:

ITA special baggage
Sport equipment
ITA allowed its guests to bring their sport equipment in its flights but with few rules that you need to consider:
- There will be additional charges for any kind of sport equipment that you would like to bring.
- An excess baggage fee will applied if your item exceed more than 23 kg in weight and more than 300 cm in their dimensions(length + width + height)
- Please make sure that your sport equipment is properly packed and secured, in a rigid container that cannot be bent out of shape

Musical instruments
ITA Guests that want to carry their own musical instruments on board ITA flights must arrive at check-in at least 60 minutes before it closes .
All musical instruments which not exceeds the dimensions (height, width, length) does not exceed 115 cm and with a length that not exceed 115 cm, and with a maximum weight of 8 kg, can be carried free of charge on board, in a special hard case, instead of hand luggage.
Instruments, such as cellos, which do not exceed the following dimensions: 52 x 40 x 135 cm (width, depth, height) and weight of 55 kg, must be carried on board by paying for a seat in the cabin (this service is not available for passengers traveling with a Light Fare).
The booking must be made at least 48 hours before the day of departure.
Summary
It is best to stick within the luggage limits.
If you show up to the airport with a large suitcase you may end up paying for luggage or your bag will be gate check in.
